Most gas up here in Canada has ethonal. So have to be careful. I dont mean to sound doubtful..but are we talking premium fuel in canada. Most shell stations 91 octane do not contain ethonal. I am in Manitoba and still find ethonal free fuel fairly easy.

So how is this 410 as a working saw? I may keep it, I thought it was a plastic case, but it appears to be magnesium. 68cc at more than 10,000 rpm seem like it would do some damage. Does it come close to a SXL-925? I love my 410. Its the go to saw in my arsenal. It seems to be there when the bigger saws get finicky to finish the job late in the game.

Wow, looks nice. If that's the original bar, it sure hasn't seen much service.
Might run better if you get that foreign chain off of it:)

Stale gas can do some nasty damage, not only to your carb, but also the engine internals.Always dump old stale gas out & put in frersh ethanol free gas. Ed

Hope this doesn't double post it didn't go up before. I picked up a non running 410 for $35.00 it was missing the gas cap and the carb was way out of adjustment. Runs great now. Looks to me that the saw was used very little almost like it was used and the clear gas cap melted and it sat in a basement somewhere. I have many super xls and use them alt to cut firewood and help people clear out trees. I used the 410 on my last project a large oak I had dropped, about 36" about 2 feet up the trunk, that 410 is a sweet saw. I just rebuilt a 923 and did some cuts but didn't want to break it in cutting 36" oak. Love the 410, it is a bit heavy but smooth and has good power.
Now a post about talked about opening up the exhuast, any good in doing this? I don't want to kill the saw.

The clear gas cap melted because of ethanol in the gas, they were known to do this. Only the early 410’s had clear caps.
