While cleaning my mother I see I got a small amount of dirt in the cylinder. I just want to know what I’m getting into before I take it apart or should I just run it as is?

Welcome to the House of Homelite.
Dirt inside is a bad thing, it could destroy the engine if it gets in the wrong place.
I don't know about the gasket, but I would recommend that you do whatever it takes to ensure no dirt is inside before you turn the engine over let alone start it.
