These are two different saws, any idea how to get an parts manual for the 35 or any info about it? I found manuals for the 35SL, but I see several differences. My brother-in-law brought one from Canada with him when him and my sister married and he's asking me about it. Its a UT50222A. I think the 35SL is a US saw, not sure.

I'm not familiar with that model specifically but the SL in the model number is for "Safety Lock" (chain brake). Otherwise they should be roughly the same. Leon, the admin here has all the IPL's and other documents available for download on his store site and there is only an IPL for the 35SL, not the 35 without the SL. www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/parts-diagrams.htmlIf you can post some pictures, someone else may be able to help a lot more than me.

The IPL's at Leon parts store is what I looked at, but some saws say 35SL and some don't. My BILs saw does not say SL but it has the old style metal wire chain brake on the saw, but its cover and other pieces are different than in the IPLs list at Leons parts store. I will try to post pictures soon. I noticed member Clasic? has a saw that says 35, but I cant see much of it in just the little picture.

The 35SL originated in Canada, built in the Terry plants. The early ones (before ~1984) have a different intake system than the later ones that were basically the same setup as the 360. I've never seen a manual for just a 35 I'm afraid. Any chance of a few pictures of the saw?

will, the chain brake you describe ("old style metal wire") suggests a Canadian model.
Does the ID tag say HOMELITE-TERRY ??..and what is the serial number ?

Its marked as being made in Pointe Claire Quebec and I think he said the serial number is TH 00404. The drive case cover is different on some, some have a small screw by the rear bar stud on the cover ad others don't. Also whats the deal with air filters being over 20.00 for this model?. I had a 360 once and it used a filter with a large hole in the middle and the not even sure how that filters anything, but the IPL on this one calls for a soled filter

I took pictures of BILs saw this morning. The area around the studs is different on this 35 than ones I've sen in pictures or on eBay, also the small adjustment? screw at the top of the cover seems different, maybe not, but

That’s a odd serial number. Saw was built in 1986. Last year built for that UT was 1987.

Sometimes Homelite revised parts during production because of issues etc... I have some Super Mini clutch covers Iike that. They all still fit but are slightly different.

I just read the section on posting pictures, I'll post anymore pictures from my flicker account. I was wondering why there was a maximum amount of two pictures per post allowed

Your saw was built in 1986. 35’s were originally sold in Canada only, and later in the USA.

Greg, this forum would be lost without you. Or, at least it would have a severe limp.

Hmm, Thanks, but that doesn't say it addresses the Homelite 35 UT50222A or even references it. What do you think about the Canadian UT number?

IPL 79310_1984 should be the correct one for your 35 with safety lever..
