I bought a 360 off Ebay over the weekend, the price wasn't bad - $34.The seller said he couldn't get it to run,so when I got it today I put t together & checked out the usual things. It had spark & compression, but I noticed that they had a Champion CJ 8 in it which I believe is too hot,it should be a CJ6 (correct me if I'm wrong).Another thing I noticed when I went to take the recoil off was that they apparently lost all three of the original screws that hold the recoil on & they put garbage screws in.So out to the garage I went to try to get the saw fired up.I quickly realized that there was no fuel filter on the line in the tank,so I had a used one that wasn't too awfully bad & I put that on.I primed the carb & it fired, but it wanted to run at full throttle,so I'm assuming that it needs a new intake boot, the lines looked to be in good shape. This is another potentially good runner after a new plug, intake boot,& carb rebuild. It had a rather odd looking HDC though compared to the HDC's on SEZ's.

Sounds like a sure fire case of needing a boot...do check the pulse hose down at the cylinder while you have it apart as it's a real bitch to realize you shoulda replaced it the first time around. Don't ask how I know that one....

I watched a youtube video earlier today on how to change a boot on a 360 & he covered the pulse line too,so I'd planned on checking that while I was in that far. What kind of line do you suggest for the pulse line,Tygon? I'm still trying to figure out how to replace the 410 boot, but after watching the video on the 360 it's a little bit clearer. As you might,or might not know,I have the style on the 410 that is NOT accessible through the carb portal,I have to take the tank & handle assembly off. What I'd like to know is can I change out the plate I have on the 410 now with the plate that allows access through the carb portal?

I think you could convert back, but I believe you'd need to change the carburetor to the older model (WS-16) as well. The later carbs have a built in "lip" on the carb that engages the intake boot; I'm not sure if the early spacer and intake plate will support that. In all honesty, I'd keep the setup you've got; as long as the saw is run at least every 2-3 years, the new boot isn't likely to rot you again.

If I can get the 410 up & running I'll be using it yearly.I've heard that the boot was a "trouble spot"on the 410,of course that comment came off AS.As far as I know,I have a Walbro WS series carb on the saw now.I haven't gotten around to pulling everything apart yet.For all I know I could have the easy access plate in there, but as my luck goes,I highly doubt it.
