Yes, open and ready for business. May get some red duct tape and put "FIRE" on the back of it I think that valve may have been partially opened. I had my hands full as you can tell trying to record and spray water. That bypass valve was a bit of an afterthought but makes it easy to control the pressure at the hose without fiddling with the throttle. Also allows me to suck water up from a pool/creek/etc and pump into the tank.

Very well done! Love that pump.
I have the feeling there is going to be some copycatting of your ingenuity.

I get the feeling you're waiting, somewhat impatiently for a brush fire.

So far no brush fires (which is fine with me), but I have used it to water some newly planted grass that was a long way away from the nearest hose. Worked great!

Well, I don't know if I will really attempt to buy it. He says it only runs a little then quits, it has not been started for a year. The inside of the truck and the camper are trashed. It is very cheep and the rear axle might be worth the purchase price. Its about 150 miles away and would have to be trailered. If it is still available in a few weeks when the snow goes, I am pretty sure I will go look at it. I would really like to have one of these things. It has 15000 miles he says so it would be more in danger from sitting than from being worn out. If I was not overloaded with vehicles right now, I think I would be headed over there asap. Very interesting just to find one that still exists here in Minnesota.

Yes, those old toyotas are normally rust buckets in that area of the country.
I agree on the axle, I have been keeping my eye out for a true dually axle for mine, but people don't like to give them up cheap.

Got the water tank project back in the shop for some upgrades, including this new hose reel I got from Napa

Got the tank all ready for this year. I pulled the top back off and applied some fresh "acoustical sealant", which is supposedly the best sealant for the plastic liner. I went ahead and took the opportunity to trim the fill fitting so it sits flush now. Just to help it seal, I put more sealant between the plastic on the outside and covered with 1x2. We'll see if its any better, it was good to start off with last year but by the end of the season I had a waterfall going when turning a corner Also added bigger 2x4 "spacers" to the back of the tank. This allowed me to add my hose reel and I also decided to put in mounts for an ax and shovel. The latter of which were of course homebrew but I will say for the price point I am impressed with the hose reel. Although it only has 1/2 hose, the fittings are brass and it seems of high quality. Not bad for $25. Overall I think it all came out good but only time will tell.

Looks good, I love this project. Good forethought and a very low $ solution to a very serious problem.
I'd be a little nervous about that plastic shovel holder, maybe a hose clamp or steel strap around the plastic and the 2x4 for insurance??
I would not have thought to mark the shovel and so it would not be on the truck when I needed it. Is the axe similarly marked?

Thanks Sweepleader!
I am probably going to put a large SS clamp around the shovel when travelling long distances... normally I don't go far or fast with the water tank on anyway.
That axe is my shop axe so its not marked. I broke the handle on my fire ax last year and have been procrastinating replacing it. What irritates me is you pay as much, if not more, for a replacement handle than an entire ax!
