I recently picked up a WIZ gear drive from a guy up in Washington. Complete minus the starter cover(common to be missing ). Anyhow....piston and cylinder looked ok, but it pulled over fairly tight. Figured the main ball bearing was sticky. Well yesterday evening was demolishing time. Tore it to pieces and the piston and cylinder wall are in good enough shape to do with a re-ring. Will be replacing the pto side bearing. I'm starting this thread a wee bit late into the restore as I have a bad habit of starting a project and getting into it without documenting. haha BUT I'm getting better! SO...without further ado....here's where things are. Filthy work bench from last night lol 006 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr Soaking all hardware in acetone. Carb is currently soaking in parts cleaner. 007 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr Piston in decent shape. No scoring so with a good cleaning should work nicely. 008 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr And the cylinder wall is in nice shape as well. Going to ball hone and call it good to go. 009 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr Been spending the today blasting, cleaning, and painting. Coming out pretty decent. Doing primer, base, and clear with some extra details for the fun of it. 005 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 004 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 010 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 011 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr All for now folks! Should have more to update this evening.

Nice, lots of fun.
Be cautious with acetone in an open container, VERY flammable.

Even though we had 13 different last names throughout the years.

More pictures from yesterday evening's progress. Oil caps are silver and the fuel cap lettering will be outlined in silver. Gears and clutch were cleaned out with brake cleaner and are ready to re-use. Clutch springs were in great shape. Wasn't sure what color the starter cup was if it was even a color so I went with black as the flywheel is silver. 001 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 002 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr

I think but I don't know that the starter cups were not painted. I do know that there should be no paint on the inside as that would likely mess with the starter pawls gripping that surface.
Looks great however, nice work.

Blue paint looks like a perfect match, how late was the saw manufactured? Doing a great job.

Not a whole lot this evening, but I did manage to get the fan shroud and handle painted. Hoping to have pretty much all parts painted up tomorrow evening. After that it's down to ordering parts from Leon, ebay, and decals from sugar creek. 001 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 002 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 003 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 004 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr

Been under the weather the past few days and after working 9 hours on top of that hasn't kept me to motorvated. But I have gotten the main frame painted and pulley housing. Also today I ordered a ton of parts and decals so I'm excited to see what this thing looks like when I get done. 007 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 008 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 009 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr

Alrighty....now that my nose isn't plugged solid I'm back at it. Beginnings of ordered parts have shown up so my motorvation has come back. Blasted and 1st coat of primer on the fuel tank. 001 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr Letting some zep off eat away at the pesky case gasket 002 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr So I picked up a sonic tank and a gallon of super degreaser from harbor freight and I have to say I'm quite pleased. After two cycles the piston came out WAY better and so did the carb. Ate most of the carbon off the top of the piston which I later scrapped off. 003 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr 004 by TJ McCauley, on Flickr

Nice painting. It's looking great. Gonna be another TJ's artwork.
I'm still going at a snails pace on that Pioneer 650. Need to find parts, get paint & get painting. Pinched nerve in my neck slowing me down this past week.

Pinched nerve in my neck slowing me down this past week. Thanks man, I had a youtube subscriber offer a mostly complete 650 to me awhile ago. Had a good top end on it as far as I know. You want me to email him and get some pictures and pricing?
