Thanks guys! That saw is probably still my best overall restoration in terms of quality of the paint. It also doesn't hurt that the engine is mostly NOS!

Yeah, the one with all the broken, stripped studs and holes. You had to bring that up...
The thing ran fine, then he took it apart to find a zillion problems. I told him it was rough but I had no idea. I had put in a gas line but did nothing else to it.
Now it is a work of art, unbelievable.

Jeez Dan, it wasn't that bad! It didn't have any more issues than any other saw it's age. I was lucky because I had been rat-holing parts for years waiting for the day that I'd have one to work on. That day came about a year ago...and I am very grateful!

After seeing Leon's Beautiful XL500 I thought now I know where that old bar I've had for quite a while belongs. Mine is not as pretty as his but I think it will display nicely in front of that yellow saw. XL500 LH by CLASEC, on Flickr XL500 RH by CLASEC, on Flickr XL500 ID by CLASEC, on Flickr

Not even going there! That's a nice saw Clasec! I noticed the "P" at the end of the serial number...I'm assuming that, as with the smaller versions of this series, this designates a Phelon ignition. My serial number is 1982205, so it must be the Wico ignition. Neat old saws!
