I really couldn't nail down my build date either. I believe mine is pre 1970 but not sure. I do know this, mine didn't crank on the third pull after putting gas in it lol flic.kr/p/24tiA49

I’m coming up with 1980 on this one. It’s an 8 digit number and according to the breakdown on the 8 digit the first number would be year correct?

The 270th day of 1980 which if that’s right? Is that electronic ignition? If that’s wrong I’ll gladly go sit back down lol

That's what I thought, that is until you have one that has a Lot number then the second number appears to be in the lot number not the serial number, but I could be wrong too.

sweepleader is right on this one...the lot number is used to date this C72..
F6174 is assembly line F...1976..day 174
Very nice saw for 100..paint should polish up well.

The sticker was making me think it was a post 1975 saw, but I didn't think it was a 1980 even though I think they made these until 1982

The 8 digit serial number says 1970 ,but from the pic it appears to be a sticker on top of the ID tag sticker ?

I'm glad you guys are around. I don't consider myself easily confused but; Lot#, Serial# UT# 8 digit/9digit... I'm never going to get this system straight.
Acres site doesn't give a year introduced but I'd guess early 70's would be blue like my C5 and a Morse-Fairbanks starter instead of the Homelite Auto Rewind?
Nice saw Mike. Why not add a C-series to the collection?
