Back when I was around 18 or so I had a gooseneck hitch out of a truck with the detachable ball. The ball was seized and we heated and beat with no luck. A friend of mine that worked in a chemical plant said “we had something bad corroded once and as we heated it we melted a candle stick in there, the heat broke everything loose and the wax created a lubrcated service for the parts to slide on”. I melted two of my moms candles on the gooseneck ball and still no luck. He replied with “we only did it once cause it didn’t work we never tried again”

We had a similar siuation with my dad's one ton International truck.I think it was a 1970 (?).He had to replace the king pins in it.We put the torch on it & heated & heated,that hub was cherry red.I forget what we used for a drift pin,but there wasn't much room under the wheel well to get a good swing with a sledge.We put used motor oil on it to try to help it along.I think we must've worked at least 3 hrs.on it before it finally broke loose,& that was only one side.We looked at each other & said at the same time"What a b&^#@ch.We had the same thing with the other side.I wonder if anyone ever heard of using grease in the king pins?What a novel idea.That was something my dad was a stickler for & that was to grease the machinery,anywhere there was a zerk,it got greased.

I used two small wedges on top and bottom -even the most stubborn will come of (watch your face )

I saw a guy online he Hooked a puller half claw on the side in-line with the notch and wedge( I’m old and the right name eludes me!)and directly opposite the side where the coil is,with the threaded puller shaft against the crank end( it’s normal spot of contact when using a puller)but with just the one claw.pulling up on the threaded puller shaft for tension then gave the puller shaft a whack with a hammer,and it popped right off,he said it nearly always worked for him,as long as the key( now I got it!) is on the side of the crank opposite the coil and directly inline ,pointing at,the claw on the same side!,Hey it’s something to work one!
