What do you use to replace the rubber on the handle bars on a Super XLAO and Super EZAO? I used heater hose on one of mine, but don't like the fit. Is there a better alternative? Thanks, Tim

Thanks, Tim Can you find the spongy material thy put on 10 speeds, maybe a bike shop? I think Stihl sells the material, but it is higher than a colorado convenience store clerk

Well that nearly made me spit coffee all over the computer!!!!
I've never bothered to spend much time looking for a replacement rubber material for handles, but I do know that heater hose is a poor substitute. It holds up well enough, but it is terrible to work with (too stiff), it usually fits sloppy loose (if you can get it on all the way) and it's a bit thicker than OEM. I had never considered bike grip rubber, that's an interesting thought.

I've bought some of the bike grip rubber. Nice and soft but that comes with the good chance of tearing it.
I've been looking for some non-reinforced rubber tube but no luck.

There is a new stretch tape that is pretty thick, it doesn't have adhesive, but as you stretch it grips to the surface. its about 4-5 times thicker than black electrical tape and has a spongy ffeel. I found it at the hardware store, maybe called gorilla tape. I put it on a C5 handle and decided to sell the handle and that stuff was a bear to remove!

Try Heat Shrink Tubing . McMaster-Carr has all kinds available . I'm going to try their "abrasion-resistant fabric heat shrink for my work saw .
Hope it will be slip resistant . For a restoration , one of the standard heat shrink tubes would look more correct .
