How are the fuel lines sized in the IPLs. I noticed on the SXLAO IPL it list 1/4" fuel line. Is this O.D. because 1/4 I.D. would certainly not work. As far as I.D. I measure and see either 5/32 or 3/16. Which if either would be correct?

I used 1/4"ID X 3/8"OD on my big 2000, but all my 800 and 900 series saws I used 3/16"ID X 5/16"OD

Another thing to consider is the revision number of the IPL or the age of the saw. Some of these saws used custom fuel lines that had built in grommets, others may have or could use grommets on the air box.

The vast majority of what I install in 1/8" X 3/16" or 1/8" X 1/4". I use 3/16" X 5/16" on the C-series, 2100's, etc... Even my 750 uses 1/8" X 1/4" and it delivers more than enough fuel.

Leons right, I used some larger hose and didn't use grommets, not sure how that will work for you, but I couldn't get the 3/16" line on my 2000 from the carb to the tank and had to use the 1/4" ID line, but it works okay for inside the tank.

I’m sure it’ll work I just wasn’t sure if the size was measured OD or ID. The IPL for a super XL calls for 1/4 which I ordered but I messed up and ordered 1/4 ID not paying attention to all the details. I was putting a couple of part saws together to make one and noticed that one of the super XL had a large hole and grommet for the fuel line in the air box, the other did not use a grommet and had a much smaller hole that the fuel line fit right in and sealed it off

I bought a saw today and the guy at the saw shop put Homelite part number 9477299 on it for the oil lines and fuel line. This was on a Super EZ Automatic. He had to stretch it to put the oil strainers and fuel filter on it, but it fit tightly in the hole out of the oil tank and tightly in the grommet out of the fuel tank. It seems a more flexible line than Tygon. He told me Tygon will not last as long as the grey Homelite line in oil or fuel. Any thoughts on what he said? I think the line size is .204 OD x .117 ID.

Tygon tends to get hard in a fairly short time outside of the tank but seems to stay soft inside. I would use the Homelite line if I could get it easily.
For a Super XL, 1/4" OD is right. The 1/8" ID Tygon line is a bit tight over the nipple on the carb but with a bit of heat from a hair drier it goes on OK
