I picked up a non-running XL-901 the other day that had a rotted fuel line. I found that a Stihl 0000 989 0516 grommet was a good replacement for the fuel tank interface and greased Tygon .211" x .117" tubing could be pulled through the installed grommet. Even the metal elbow nipple with the fuel line installed could be pressed into the grommet, so there shouldn't be any leakage.
On the other end of the metal mid-line going to the carburetor I used .250 x .125" Tygon tubing as I haven't located an acceptable grommet as yet that would permit the use of the .211" OD tubing. The nice thing about the .250" OD tubing is that it nearly fills the hole into the carburetor chamber, and with the bend to the other metal fuel line it seems to form a dust seal to keep "stuff" out of the carburetor. That said, I think I'l apply a dab of RTV just to make sure.

Sounds great. I bought a load of buna-n grommets from McMaster Carr several years back that fit the tanks well enough. Good to hear the stihl grommet fits. Please post some pics and vids with her running!

I used 3/16"(.181) ID X 5/16"(.250)OD on my Super XL-925 and it was difficult to get through the airbox hole, had to pull it through with pliers. I think the holes sizes are different on the XL-901 and the Super XL-925 airbox, because I used a smaller Tygon hose on my XL-901 with a grommet
