Any idea what size replacement is needed on the 2000 plug wire, 7mm maybe? I might use the same wire if anyone can tell me how I can clean this up before I glue it back in the coil 20180105_123707 by Al Michaels, on Flickr 20180105_123655 by Al Michaels, on Flickr

Looks like you could just cut off an 1/8" to clean it up, but why? The insulation looks like it has had the course to me. A foot of wire from the auto parts store would replace it. All the saws I have worked on (which have not yet included one exactly like yours) used 7mm solid wire core.
Anyone else know if 7mm is right for a 2000?

Thanks, and I was hoping thats what someone would say that I should to put a new wire, boot, and spring on it.

I bought 2 foot of 7mm solid core for 5.98 off eBay, not one auto parts store around here carries any bulk plug wire.

I bought some 7mm solid core wire from eBay, but no way it will go into the coil. I may trim a 1/8"-3/16" of my old wire until I get some 5mm solid copper core.

A small engine dealer ($t!hl) that carries Stens products may have STENS: 135-061 5mm copper core sparkplug wire.

I bought a foot of it for 6.98 delivered from eBay, I'm a Stens dealer, but unless I'm ordering a big lot of air filters, oil filters, transmission filters or other items the 9.00 shipping charge is too much for one or two small items. The closest Stens dealer to me is 40 miles one way

I picked up a 100' roll of old school wire a while back. Yeah, I'm not sure which coils use 7 mm and which coils use 5 mm, but my 2000 definitely doesn't use 7 mm unless I whittled 2 mm of insulation off and I'm not going to do that. The old 5 mm wire is tight
