I believe I have studied and read about Homelite saws more in the last few months than anything since the last western lit exam I took. (yes that was years ago) Anyway Leon's and HOH have become my new Facebook and while looking at some of the IPLs I noticed one for an auto oiling kit for the C series. Has anyone ever seen or have any experience with these? If I was to run across one someday are they worth adding?

They are rare as hen's teeth, but occasionally pop up new on Ebay. They're a novelty item really as finding sprockets for them is next to impossible. If I ever get my hands on one, it'll go on a restored saw for display. Last one I saw sold for about $200.

They are definitely a neat feature. Similar cool item is the planetary gear reduction for the Cs. There was a small mod to the drive case that added a removable plug between the bar studs. The oiler has a little tube that would insert into the hole and oil would then feed to the opening to the guide bar. The earliest Cs didn't have the plug so you'd need to change out the drive case to use the auto oiler kit. If you find one and you like the Cs or the early non-auto XPs, certainly worth picking up.

That is Awesome! I read a piece on the C series in that they were very heavy for the CC's, but that th internals were so overbuilt that they might last forever. After realizing they share many similar parts and design with 100cc + Homelite saw I understand how they could be so strong. One question I have is that the C stood for convertible or more generally a motor to drive attachments. I have not seen many attachments for them, an auger and a winch is about it, but surely the C series had other attachments.
