Here’s another chart, this one is right from the Homelite Training Manual. Would this 14 in bar fit my Super Mini? I currently have a 16 in PT16381-D5 on it. Thanks

No, it will not fit a SUPER-MINI.
The pictured bar is a SUPER-2, XL-2 ...etc, Type "4" mounting pad.

Hi Guys, Great info, but I'm still having some difficulty. The bar and chain I just bought online are supposedly from the same saw, but I need some help deciphering. The bar is a Homelite that says "Track Hardened Bar" in a box in the center of the bar. The numbers on the bar are 502-23. I take that (from the charts above) as "50"= 1/2" pitch and "2"= 0.058 gauge, 23" long.......is that right? When I Googled the 502-23 bar numbers I found one for sale saying it was "1/2" pitch 0.063 gauge "For 5-20 and other antique Homelite saws"....... But that's all I found. So obviously one of us (probably me) is wrong.
The chain is an Oregon with a "40" stamped on each depth gauge, or as some call it a 'tooth link'. There may have been a number stamped on each drive link, but I can't make any of them out from the pics I have. I found the Oregon decoder ring online, but there's no "40" in the current list, so this must be a really old chain. Anybody have an old Oregon chain number chart that can verify that this "40" Oregon chain is correct for this bar?? I'd appreciate any help you guys can provide.
thanks, bob

Since it is a hard nose bar (no sprocket on the tip) the bar has no need for pitch identification just driver thickness or gauge so the best thing to do is measure the bar opening to verify the gauge. Most Homelite bars are .063. You can use a micrometer to measure the gauge of the chain drive link to see if it matches the bar groove. Number 40 on the drive link I haven't been able to find yet but possible is .404 pitch. If it looks huge it could be 9/16 pitch but that code is 4C.

Thanks Clasec. I will check it when it gets here. Just one clarification.........the stamped "40" isn't on the drive link, it's on the link that has the blade tooth on it. It's stamped on the raised part that sets the depth of the blade cut right in front of the blade. thanks, bob

The drive link code would be 10 if readable. If 1/2 pitch.

Hi Clasec,
Can I ask how you know that? I'm trying to understand how I can identify bars and chains when I run into them out in the wild. I found another one last night supposedly from a Homy EZ with bar number H-609-17. I don't see anything listed in the 5 digit codes above for a "6"......they stop at 5. I'm guessing the "H" means Hardened or Homelite, but not sure. The chain with the bar is another Oregon and has a "30" on each depth setting tooth, where the '40' was in the other chain. There wasn't a '30' listed on the Oregon chain lists I've seen. I checked the EZ IPL for that bar number, but no help from that, as it lists the bars by a part number, not bar number. I know I've seen lists for the GW bars, but don't remember seeing the earlier bar numbers listed anywhere. I'll do some more digging, as I'm sure it's come up hundreds of times before me.
thanks, bob

I just picked up a Homelite Super XL (Blue) early 60's and it had the bar but no chain. The only markings on the chain is the serial number 12449591 Any help decoding would be great! TYIA
