Looking for a 24" Bar for Super XL AO. Doesn't have to be Homelite branded but wouldn't mind either. Would much prefer the sprocket nose version over the hard nose. Used, in good condition would be fine too.

I bought a 32" for show, to put on my XL-500. Looks cool, a bit much though.
The chain is a skip tooth made up from 3 pieces, good thing I don't plan to use it much cuz the cutters are in very strange arrangements at the many joints.

Still on the hunt for a bigger bar for this saw. Joyce? Leon? anyone? Doesn't have to be a Homelite branded bar, it's going to be a worker. Was looking at one on ebay from the Little Red Barn guy. Pretty reasonable price, cheaper than the Oregon but leery about the quality. Anyone have any experience with this guy's stuff?

Thanks, I knew it was a 3/8 x .050 chain, but different (sprocket/hard nose/width/manufacturer) take different DLs. I think the GW-24001_G5 hard nose bar only takes 81 DLs, some 24 inch bars take 84. I think I may need the 72LGX081G chain.

Thanks for the link on this. Looks like what I am after. I'm guessing the H5 designation is the universal mount that will fit any of the saws, or at least any of the saws in the range capable of handling a 24" bar? Any idea how many drive links the chain will need for this bar?

This is how I measure chain length: Poor photo I know, sorry. The white marks every 20 DLs have red numbers on them. The last white mark is at 110, the chain is about 127 or so links long. It is old chain that I would never plan on using again. I do have to allow for the wear it has but it is not a whole DL so that is not tough. Of course, if Undee has his book open this is not needed. He seems to have almost all the chain and bar answers close at hand and he is very quick to help.

Until now I had hopes that the bar wouldn't go up too much more. Gonna have to wait till Tuesday.

Agreed it wouldn't be a bad thing to get another saw with the bar for another 30 or 40 bucks, but that opens up a whole other ball of wax. As I'm sure nobody here has any idea. I kinda hate buying the new, mint condition bar and putting it to work when I actually prefer the bare steel look anyway. It could look great on somebodies shelf queen but time isn't on my side, got wood to cut. Maybe I just need to find a C5 with a 28" bar... Yep, there's that ball O'wax again.

I have 25 garden tractors and I have an average of 3-4 implements for each tractor, so I have a garden tractor to do any job, and don't have to change implements. It was 67 here today and will be warmer tomorrow, Tuesday a cold front comes in and the high is 51, so I haven't even turned the heater on let alone burned a log.
