Howdy guys! Figured this would be the best spot for a build thread. A few weeks ago I picked up a 770 GS and a Super 77. The Super 77's bottom end is seized solid and the 770 gs's bottom end is free so I am starting with the easier one(and rarer) one first. Always wanted a saw with a 2 speed gear reduction and my wish finally came through. Here are the saws then and now after the explosion of parts. haha I have a 775d that I'm going to use the piston and cylinder off of....at least I hope. Both have the same bore and stroke so hoping the rest is the same. lol Thanks to Leon's store I'll be able to get a head gasket and other misc parts. Excited to get this thing running, You all think this saw could pull a 42 inch Oregon bar? Be cool with a long bar on it. Kind of a west coast thing. haha

haha! Yeah, that's my temporary one as my main bench has a saw on it already. Can't seem to only do one at a time!

This is going to be great! 770GS is a very rare saw. Will be really nice to see inside.

Good stuff! (You still need a bigger bench... :{) Oh wait, everybody needs a bigger bench don't they, nevermind.) Yeah, it was funny....I called a guy about some parts for these, and of course he didn't have any. But he told me he had a "small" collection of about 40 saws. Needless to say I guess U'm Just getting started! haha

Yea, you're gonna have to fix the 775D up too! Couldn't think of using it for parts, even on the GS. The 775 is the last of it's line... need to just schedule it for a total rebuild also. Dan

Yeah, It's gonna be hard taking it apart if I end up not finding another cylinder. But I really wanna get that GS going.

For sure, colors will be as close to original as possible hence the matches from Leon's sight. Hoping to find a super long roller nose bar to.

Heading out to Harbor freight in the morning to pick up a bench blasting cabinate and media. Can't seem to find the time to blast parts at the shop I work at so decided to bite the bullet and do it here. Will be much nicer anyway so I can blast all parts and paint them up the same day. Just need to get paint ordered as well. Should have some updates tomorrow.

Was able to find a .404 sprocket for this on ebay. 42 inch Oregon bar here I come. lol Short for a beast like this but good enough. Unless a roller nose happens to fall into my hands.

Beautiful! A good soaking and brushing and hopefully the internals will clean up nicely.
