I tried to put a 7/8" heater hose on it, used cooking oil, heat and air, no way, it wouldn't go on, so I cut it and taped it with good tape. This should take a little of the rattle out and give a good grip for my hands. I always have trouble with tools and handles they make for average hands because everything made today is made overseas and everything made 40 years ago was made for people that were smaller.

You could try heat shrink tubing over the rubber hose. Or bicycle handlebar tape. I would guess that one tape or the other would still fail from getting oil on it.

You might try PB Blaster to keep the hose from sticking. It works well for me.

You might try PB Blaster to keep the hose from sticking. It works well for me. I tried motor oil, Vaseline, coconut oil, WD-40 and PB blaster, the problem was the bar was just to big for the hose. I was able to get a couple inches into it, but after pulling it out I noticed it took off a layer of rubber inside the heater hose, it almost could have been reamed and worked
