Anybody have any experience with either of these models?
Picked them both up the other day in a package deal for next to nothing. Guy said they haven't ran in a few years, looks like the fuel was drained out and the fuel hoses are still pliable so may get lucky. This weekend will get working on them.

I've seen a few on craigslist, but none near enough to look at or buy. There's a nice ST-200 on eBay really cheap, they don't seem to bring as much as the older blue brushcutters

I bought my dad a HT-17 a few years back and he loves it. It cuts quite well and is pretty lightweight. I've never run an ST-145, but Homelite sold a bazillion versions of it for over 10 years, so it must be decent. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I also have a HT-17. I bought mine used. They have a tiny motor (less than 20cc) but have good power. I use mine for trimming my bushes.

Here's a "teaser shot" from the back of my car (I am working out of town until Friday) I took a bit of a closer look and they appear to be in very good shape, albeit dirty from being stored. But they don't show much use. I did see the weed trimmer is missing the guard on the bottom, but I think I have a spare one at home I can make work. I know these are a little newer than most of the equipment we work with but they're still USA built homelites, so good in my book I also picked up a heavy duty craftsman weed trimmer which I'm planning on fixing up and either selling or fitting with a weed blade and using for blackberries.

Alright some more progress tonight Heres a picture after a little bit of clean up for both I got the hedge trimmer running, actually runs really well. Haven't been able to get the cutter bar to budge. Soaking in penetrating oil overnight. Also throttle sticks, well actually, more like doesn't have any spring? Have to look into that too. The weed wacker ran with fuel in the carb but found out the fuel tank has a crack in it and the fuel hose was broken off right where it goes into the tank. Probably going to pick up a tank off ebay that comes with new hoses. Also tinkered around with this craftsman. Fuel hose is shot, gonna see if Ace hardware has any suitable replacement pieces tomorrow.

Well made quite a bit of progress this weekend.
Got the bar freed up on the hedge trimmer (rusted stuck) and got it working 100%. It really does the job on hedges. I am still amazed at how smooth and quiet this unit is.
Got the craftsman running with new fuel line and ran it around today on some weeds. It really does a great job. I am going to be equipping it with a weed blade I think unless somebody wants to buy it from me (have posted for sale)
As for the ST-145 I ordered the new fuel tank and guard (was missing), should be here sometime this week.

Well I got the fuel tank and guard in for the trimmer. Was able to get it running, was a little more cold blooded than the other two but once I had it warmed up with some fresh gas running through it it seemed to run good. Unfortunately we're having a rainstorm so didn't get to do much in the way of testing. I also discovered I was missing a spring for the trimmer head but miraculously ace hardware had a replacement, FYI in case anyone is looking for one. Here's a pic of the final piece, and the hedge trimmer in the background
