I have recently been forced to repaint my daily driver Maxi- Scooter. A 300+ cc Cyprus. I have the engine painted already with engine enamel, but my question is about the fairings. They are all plastic. I am hoping someone here has some experience in rattle bombing plastic and can offer a few suggestion of paint for plastics and a good primer for said paint. The Krylon Fusion says "no prep" which has to mean no primer, but does that mean on straight plastic only, or on pre painted pieces as well? I have been looking everywhere for advice. I know that a lot of guys here have repainted their saws and equipment so I am hoping someone has experience with plastics..

I really don't know. Im guessing you would want to rough up the original paint, so the new paint will adhere better.

I am pretty sure the "no prep" is for bare plastic only. As I understand it, the paint contains solvents that bond the paint to the plastic, one of the main functions of primer on metal. And as undee70ss said roughing is likely a good idea, especially if there is solid shiny paint already there.

Yeah, I have sanded all of the plastics with 1000 and 2000 grit wet paper and the rougher spots were hit with 60,80,120,400,600,&800 as well as the higher grits. I was thinking the no prep crap was for the bare plastics only I was just hoping that someone here had painted some plastics on something else before..thanx guys.
