Store fronts should be showcased by those individuals (like yourself and Joyce) that take the time to support the website and "CHECK IN" regularly. Glad to see you've added one for both yourself and Joyce. With that being said, I think SugarCreek Supply no longer deserves to be listed out front. I'm sorry but Joe hasn't check in in over two years, not to mention his products are listed on other websites. He might come back if there was more traffic and sales. I believe traffic just got so low, and the fact no one even posted questions in his store that he just went elsewhere. If I hadn't have bought your saw and parts from the chainsawlady, I might not have stayed either. I mean for a good while a week would go by and there would be maybe one new thread and a couple of replies. I believe even a lot of the new people who signed up over the years, having only a couple of posts, every time they probably came back, very little new posts, then they just never came back. Hopefully this will change.

I don't know jack about running websites, but isn't there a backup copy that someone can get to in case something is deleted? It's always possible accounts can get hacked and/or no good people do bad things. I double backup all my important stuff to prevent losing any of it. im not sure about pro boards but i am familiar with my website i can create backups as much as needed and download them to my desktop

I've noticed that a few sub forums don't provide a way to reply. I was going to reply to a guy needing a 7-29 coil but there wasn't a reply box at the bottom. A few others are like this also.

My version has the reply box, maybe I'm special.
Maybe Leon is trying to tell you something... ;{)
Leon, I think this one is in your court.

I was thinking you needed to be "logged in" to reply and noticed on the screen shot you weren't. But then, you weren't on either screen shot; so I guess that's not it. Hmmmm

The NOS parts store and wanted items, replies are disabled and have been since I've been here. Not sure why though. I don't think nobody ever noticed, because hardly nobody posts there.

Damn, this thread blew up! Greg has the answer right there...it's a legacy decision from the previous owner, but I am open to changing this up if there is a strong feeling about how these sub-forums should be setup.
From my point of view, pros to using a PM to complete transactions:
1) Less "clutter" and chance for a thread to get off message 2) Less chance of important model information getting mixed into a thread that will be removed 2) No one but the buyer & seller see the negotiations
Cons:
1) No one else ever knows whether the poster has what he/she needs unless the original message is updated 2) Perhaps the buyer and seller do exchange good information that would be valuable to the entire forum
So lets hear everyone's thoughts...I'm not at all married to this format and changing it is very easy.

I guess I would vote for a little more information, more clutter. Sometimes it doesn't take much info to save a situation. If it turns out bad, change it back. My guess is there is no one here who has seen it the other way.
Has the "Reply Box" issue been solved?

Yeah, Leon, this might be number 2 under cons. I was going to give him a Wico number as another search avenue for the coil he was looking for.

Im sure it wasn't before then, and it isn't for everyone else.

Personally I would allow replies. That's the way most forums are, and transactions compleated in PM's. Without replies, the OP, could have already found and have his part, and you wouldn't even know.

I've taken a look at options for search engine optimization with Pro-Boards and options are limited. Google and other browsers now are programmed to shy away from blocks of keywords, so the best "advice" I could find was to make sure the content on the forum was good. We certainly don't have a problem with that, so I'm hoping our ranking with Google and others climbs. I've "registered" with the major search engines to crawl the site, so they should all pick up the new content here very soon. Forum activity is also supposed to drive ranking in search results, so the increased posting the past few weeks can't hurt. If things really stagnate again, I'll consider a small ad buy with Google Ads, but I'm hoping things don't come to that. I did add a new "Welcome" post in the Getting Started At HOH board...it has enough keywords, that I"m hoping it will help search ranking a bit. Once again, thank you all for the great suggestions...we've definitely got the boat pointed in the right direction!
