I have a relatively new Homelite chain saw 42cc, with less than 10 hours. When the engine is cold there is no problem starting it following recommended procedure. After running awhile, I shut the engine off to take a break, it will not start no matter what procedure I use. I simply have to wait several hours or overnight then it will start. Any one have a suggestion? This is not my first Homelite chainsaw but I'm beginning to think it might be my last.

Does it have spark when it won't start? Maybe the ignition is temperature sensitive and fails hot. Might be the gas, are you using no ethanol fuel? If not, I would try that, ethanol seems to have a higher vapor pressure leading to easier boiling and trouble pumping by suction. Ethanol leads to a host of problems in small engines. Good luck.

Check the tank vent. If the tank can't equalize with the outside air pressure, it creates a vacuum, and the carb can't pull the gas.
