just got a xl-102. compression is decent, condenser tests out ok with the multimeter, points are cleaned and operable, the coil is flat out dead. can't find one of these coils anywhere. wondering if anyone knows what other saws shared this coil or what other saws use coils that i could use the windings off of to put on my core? i'm totally open to suggestions. this saw is in rough shape but is restorable. what think yas?

Only have one new 64091 - coil for the XL-102. Don't have any used coils. chainsawlady

I don't don't think you are going to find too many "alternative" solutions short of finding a donor/parts saw or possibly finding a coil on ePay/etc. If Joyce has a coil, I would grab it while you can.
My 2-cents worth,
