Hi there .
New to this forum and based in the UK.
I have inherited a C5 in general good condition but has been sat in a damp garage for 25years. All castings etc are OK but piston was seized in the barrel. Having finally released it after two months of trying the bore is corroded/knackered but not too bad that it cannot go oversize. I reckon + 10 will clean it plus a replate. I need to source a piston and rings.
Any contacts or alternatively a very good piston and barrel? Thanks. Rgds from a sunny UK (for a change :-) )

It seems irregular in chainsaws to bore and replate the cylinder. Therefore +10 or any oversize piston is not common at all. Sure anything can be done but.....New old stock parts or buy a donor parts saw.
Both my old saws 1958 7-19C and 1960 707D are both each made up from 2 incomplete parts saws.

Well finally managed to source another barrel and piston in the USA which is hopefully in customs here in the UK or on route for delivery. Am told it's good but will wait and see. I've also managed to buy a C51 for spares or repair in the UK. Obviously the C5 has a lot of sentimental value to me having belonged to my father. So hopefully I now have enough parts to restore it having bought some new bits off of Randy such as a carb overhaul kit and electronic ignition.
The cylinder query was interesting though. Had the C5 had a removable head then no problem and they would source a piston and rings and modify but because it doesn't they cannot hone it out properly.
One thing I haven't been able to find though is piston rings. Anyone know who I can try?
