have a homelite straight shaft weedeater from home depot. am using regular gasoline which contains ethanol (no other gas available in our neighborhood). have added stabilizer to the gas mixture as recommended by your company over the phone. unfortunately the weedeaters keep burning up. apparently they overheat and a beige foamy stuff comes out of the engine compartment and the weedeater is history. what is wrong? this has happened several times? thank you.

One of these bad boy's?? www.homedepot.com/p/Homelite-2-Cycle-26-cc-Straight-Shaft-Gas-Trimmer-UT32655/202042175From reading the reviews you are not the only one having trouble. These are Homelite trimmers by name but not really related in any other way to the older higher quality trimmer of the old original Homelite company. My suggestions. Be sure to mix the two cycle oil correctly with the fuel. Don't mix up anymore than you can use in a week or so. I personally would make sure to use a synthetic oil. I use Amsoil at 64:1 mix for ALL my two cycle engines, saw, trimmer, boat motor, dirt bike, snowmobile, ect. Limit the use of your trimmer to 15 minute incriments of use. It's not a commercial trimmer designed to work hard for hours on end without a break. If all this fails, you may want to consider spending the extra money for a more commercially oriented trimmer. Tom Hope this helps you out.

Rocoyanna, I would luv to see a picture of this brown foamy stuff coming out of the engine. I work on weedwhackers all of the time, and have about 15 of them I rebuilt last summer, some of them are Homelites. Most of the time when I do the repairs its just fuel lines, fuel filters or a sparkplug and on a rare occassion a clutch, and cleaning and rebuilding carburators.
I can't visualize what is coming out of the engine, there should just be a plastic cover/ case over the top of an aluminum finned cylinder.
I am wondering If someone left some shipping or packing material inside the cover blocking the airways of the finned aluminum cylinder. Anyhow you definitely have my curiosity. So any additional Information would be great! Oh, also after repair the weedwhackers, I fuel them up set on the ground or trim some weeds If I have any left (Lol) and let them run, and they run forever with no problems. So again very curious?

Rocoyanna, I re-read your post, and you said nothing about adding engine oil to your gasoline. Just to confirm what Tom posted, that you have to have the proper mix, its Not just stabilizer and gasoline, you have to add 2 cycle engine oil and it has to be the recommended mix ratio recommended in your manual like 50:1. Otherwise you will do a lot of damage to the engine without any added oil.
Please let us know, what you find to be the problem.
