I Rebuilt a 330 Carburator, Zama C1S-H3 today. I put a new diaphram and gasket kit in it, and cleaned it really well, it looks great and I'm fairly sure it will run.
I want to test it but since I am keeping it as a rebuilt spare, My dilemia I am hesitant hooking it up to a saw and putting fuel through it, and then taking it back off and putting it away with gas inside of it. I don't want the gas to varnish up the insides, If I store it for a year or two. Any thoughts on testing the carburator before I store it?? or maybe a different type of test without putting fuel through it? or will the gaskets and diaphrams dry out anyway even without gas inside over time? ;D

Tommy, Again thanks for the information. I did test the carburator with mity-vac and it worked fine, I found out that the new gaskets and diaphrams when they are dry will definitely leak, I coated the sealing edges with a little bit of WD-40, and then there was no leakage, and everything was fine. So at least, I didn't have to fill the carburator with gas or Install it on my chainsaw, and now feel very confident that it will definitely work. Thanks.

i like to run my shelf queen saws once every couple years. I take the time take the carb off and dry out gaskets and resemble it.

If I was only going to test them with gas/mix then I would not worry to much about long term storage. But I would NOT test them with E10mix since the E10 is the really bad stuff for platics & rubber. I went to the local airport to get a 5 gallon can of No-E 91 octane jut for the saws that only get tested and occasional use. For the real workers, I use E10mix with E10 stabilizer. They get run out every few weeks and refilled with fresh mix

I think that the diaphragms would stiffen up with just sitting in the carb. It dont take long to rebuild one, so you wouldnt be out of action long. But thats just me.
