Howdy,
I've begun the rebuild of my grandfather's WIZ. I believe it was last run in the 80's. I found this bangin around loose in the fuel tank. Looks like a filter but I can't tell where it's supposed to go or if it even belongs in there. Any ideas?
PS - Great forum!

No pic. I'll try to describe it. Metal thing about as big as a large acorn. One end is tapered and looks like a fuel line would slip onto it. The other end flares out, has two grooves around the side for o-rings. Inset in that large end looks like a fiber filter.

Ok, thanks. New fuel line for sure. The filter you're suggesting, I assume you mean in-line and outside the tank? I can see how that would make a whole lot of sense.
I might try to put a petcock on it too. It will get rare use and I'd much rather not leave fuel sitting in the carb after rebuild. Speaking of which, I took off the fuel outlet plate that attaches to the tank. There's a round part on the back with a tiny brass tube sticking out. It barely looks big enough for fuel to flow but I can blow through it so, maybe so.
