My experience with contemporary ammo for the Carcano 6.5 is that it may be too hot or the projectile is not the right diameter. Slug your bore to determine what size the bullet diameter should be. Some will take a .264 and some a .268. I still have my Carcano that I purchased in the 50'2 and shot lots of mil-surp with no issues. BUT my recent purchase of Factory ammo resulted in blown primers! Not fun and calls to the mfg. of the ammo did not resolve the issue. I pulled the bullets and reloaded per the old, spiral bound, Lyman's Reloading Manual and resolved the issue. There is a web site dedicated to the Carcano.
