Hi I have picked up an old C5 homelite and im new to chainsaws i have replaced carb seals etc but i cannot get it to idle at the moment i was wondering if i am doing something wrong

It wouldnt run. i even put small amount of fuel down the plug hole it started but immediately stopped. I stripped the carb down and replaced the seals, valve etc. Think i have not got the fork shaped bit on top of the valve bent to the right angle seems to be ok now i have that flat housing.

Did you check the fuel line inside the tank? The one on my c-7 was soft and spongy so I just split the tank and replaced it. It ran good last winter for about fifteen minutes but would then start to starve for fuel, I'm thinking once that line heated up it softened enough to collapse. I haven't stuck it back together yet but will report back if this was the problem. I'm waiting for the gasket to set up now.
