Late in the Summer I started rebuilding a few MDC Walbro Carburetors for my Mini Mac Chain Saws that I have. I had nothing but troubles getting them to run right.
I figured out an easy way to get the Metering Levers set right, so that a person does not have to keep ripping A Chain Saw all apart to get at the Carburetor, and try adjusting the Metering Lever.
Once you are ready to put the Carburetor back together after you have cleaned it with Carburetor, and Choke Cleaner, Install the Metering Needle, Spring, Metering Lever, and Pin, and the Screw that holds every thing down. Place the New Diaphragm Gasket on top of the Carburetor, and Place A Steel Ruler from a Slide Square, and ruler Set, across the Diaphragm Gasket. Then take a Feller Gauge Set, not Feel Her Gauges Set, LOL. and use the 0.005" Feller Gauge, and place between the Bottom of the Steel Ruler, and the Top of the Metering Lever, and adjust the Metering Lever to these Specks. Then finnish putting the Carburetor together, and install on the Motor of thew Chain Saw.
Put the Chain Saw back together, and start the Chain Saw, outside of course. You might have to put some Gas/Oil Mix into the throat of the Carburetor, to get the Chain Saw to Start. Once the Chain Saw is warm, do the Final Adjustments to the Carburetor, with the High, and Low Needle Valves, and you will be set to go.
It took me several tries to get my Carburetors set internally, with the Metering Levers, so I thought I'd share this information with all of you. I discovered this by taking apart another Carburetor, that I had not yet tore apart to clean in Carburetor, and Choke Cleaner. I have put 8 Chain Saws together, so far by doing it this way, and everyone has worked after I did the Adjustments to the Metering Levers using this technique. Bruce.
