This is a pretty good deal for cheap shelving for saws!! I am going to start out buying 6 units and cut the support tubes off for the saws height on the shelf. That way I will have 2 units with 12 shelves each, Hmmm, may be to tall. May have to go 8 or 10. Depends on saw height. Tall ones on the bottom. Should hold at least 4 saws without bars X 24 shelves = 96 saws in 8 ft of wall space. WOW!! That will free up some room!! Will post some pictures of progress. www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_010W030831560001P?sid=KDx20070926x00003a&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=010W030831560001

All our Kmarts closed, and this shelf is only good for a few saws. Industrial shelves from Home Depot are 149.00 four 4 tiers and an extra 30.00 for a fifth tier, or 180.00 total. They can hold around 25 saws. The Kmart shelf is only 12.5 inches deep and 32 inches wide, each shelf will hold a saw with a 16-24 inch bar, but it might be difficult to put more than one saw on each shelf, even if you could I wouldn't trust it to hold up, its Chinese plastic. I bought a pretty nice lightweight used metal shelf and it was okay for a few SEZAOs or 150's, but when I put a big saw or two on it it wasn't real stable. At 180.00 for the five shelf Industrial racking you can hold probably right at 25 saws, that works out to 7.50 per saw. Start figuring up how much you would spend on the Kmart shelves to put up 25 saws, and BTW Sam's has chrome wire five tier shelves for a little more than the plastic shelf.

I make very sturdy shelves out of 1x2 spruce furring strips for vertical supports, screwed to the floor joists at the ceiling of my basement or crawlspace, 1x3 furring strips as horizontals screwed across the verticals front and back and 3/8" or 1/2" CDX plywood layed on the 1x3 horizontals as your shelves. One 4x8' sheet of CDX plywood gives you 24 feet of roughly 16" deep shelving at less than $50.-
