Since I started calling myself a "collector" Ive been trying to buy a C9. I missed another tonite on ebay by $1.00 after bidding what I thought it was worth. Am I not worthy? Am I too cheap? Probably. So my question is, does anyone out there have an extra, even a basket, to part with. Im willing to pay or trade to complete my three saw search. Thanks for looking.

That 'n on epay ended about $75 more than I'd consider paying. It had an air leak! Then again, that may be why I haven't got a C9 either. It'll turn up. Patience and restraint are the toughest parts (for me anyway) of loving these saws. But, if you're looking, you'll find it, and probably for a reasonable price too.

Just to cheer you up a little ;D Remember, just because an auction closed a dollar above your high bid doesn't mean that is all the other party bid. You could have been sitting at $102 and the winning bidder could have thrown out $200 so all you really know is you lost by the bid increment. Make you feel any better

The one Tom sold did seem to bring a little more that waht they normally sell for in that condition. I would pay a little more from him as he is a honest guy but not taht much more.
On a side note I need to call him about the Mac parts.

I was not really looking, but found one on Craigs list a few weeks ago and picked it up for 25.00 10 miles from my house. It came with 2 brand new sprockets and a brand new air filter. The downside was mag had been removed an lost 15+ years ago. I used the mag out of my parts C-52 for now. It fires but won't stay running. 1 reed appears is not seating. A set of reeds is proving to be one of the hardest parts to find so far out of all my saws. No one here even responded with a part number? I guess it will be a looker until I stumble upon a set.

Hi Don, Apologies for the latency, but part # for C-91 reed (4 with pyramid) is 55941-1. These things stink 'cause the holes are staggered and you can't reverse them.

If the pyramid is good, the reeds can be formed (not bent) back so they seal. Grip the reed across the two holes with a long nose pliers and they gently press the reed while sliding your thumb up the surface. Works good for me and I've done this on several saws where the reed doesn't lay flat on the pyramid. Just go slowly as you do it.

Hi,
Sorry Polardoo, I did not mean to highjack your post.
Thanks for the part number and the insight on forming the reed. I will give it a try sometime this week and let you know how it turns out back on my "C9 Reeds post".
Regards, Don

We have an old update in one of our IPL that says to drill a hole in the center of the pyramid to make the late C-9 and early C-91 run right.I'll look it up and see what size tomorrow.
