I have a C51 that I have used for 30 years. I have a new spare bar in its original sleeve, never been used. Its about a 28" bar. It has perma hard tip written on the sleeve and the P/N is SP 28381 F5. My question is does it have any more value to a collector than someone who is going to use it for wood cutting. I plan to sell my C51 and XL12, but thought I would ask you guys, it would be ashamed to ruin a bar which might be good for some collector. I can provide a digital photo if anyone is interested. thanks

The Permahard bars are scarce and do have some value to saw collectors. If you are selling the C-51 and XL-12 you should sell the bar as a separate piece. Can you post a photo or two. A closeup of the bar mount would be nice. I thought the F5 mount was for other saws but then it's been awhile since I've seen one. On the main page of this board under forum help there are two topics that will you get your picture posted. One thread is about resizing and the other about uploading. I'll be waiting

The C51 has a 28 bar too, the same p/n as the new one. The one installed on the saw is used, but you can still read Homelite in red. So, I have two bars. Are you saying I should sell the C51 powerhead, and the used 28" bar separate. The new bar has never been installed on any saw. I also have a used 20 inch bar (hardnosed I think). Also I have chains (used) for the 20', and both 28" bars.
Thanks for the info, I will work on getting some pictures posted.

I was referring to the new bar. I think you should sell it as a separate item. What size chain is on the C51?
