Here's an older pic of our little Sea Rayder. It has a 4 cylinder 2 stroke engine. Dan

Rowdy,
That Evinrude is awful new. The ones around here are a bit older. The Johnson's are redheads but the rudes are Blue.

Nice Boat, what brand is the engine? Its a Mercury SportJet 120. Not a super fast boat, but fun nonetheless. Dan

Nice, if you ask me a slow boat is better than no boat.

I got an early 70's 3 hp. Tecumseh brushcutter at an Engine show a few weeks ago for $10. It ran, but terrible. I got it home and cracked the carb (never been messed with) and it was full of s**t. I looked thru my old parts and found a Tilly carb in a Clinton box that matched the Power Products mount and with some parts exchanges I have an excellent yard machine. It was a fun project with minimal swearing involved!!

My most hated tool - Stihl FS something string trimmer - Not because it's bad, I just hate using it - Getting completely covered with green slop just isn't my idea of fun. I've got hundreds of yards of places to trim, along stonewalls, the brook, etc. I usually only do them twice a year, mostly because I hate doing it so bad.

Rowdy, Yes I have used it a few times but it is quite heavy, but lots of power. I'm glad it has the original shoulder harness because you definately need it to operate it! It's a commercial unit for sure! Mike, Try tilting the cutting end down and to the left if the head turns clockwise or vice versa if it turns the other way. This throws the grass away from you and not up at you. Hope this helps. Hawt

Hawt, I know where I'd like to turn that thing! But, it sure beats the old way, hand clippers & old scythe - I have a few more 2 strokes too, a Stihl [old FS 61 I think with a brush blade on it, [not too fond of it either] A Homelite Yard Broom? I think it's called, and a 1974 Solex [made in France] moped my daughter got for free this summer. It had 1980 gas in the tank, boy did it stink! Spent close to 2 days on it, but it runs nice now. Aug 1 she gets her licence, she can't wait to start riding it the 2 miles to work.

Forgot about the '74 Kawasaki 350 Big Horn in the shed. It has a rotary valve 2 stroke like in the old snowmobiles. It still runs but needs a top end rebuild. Also got a '60's Homelite XLBC4 Brushcutter that needs some parts which reminds me I should be asking around on the site. It's a Super XL power band.

I know this is an old thread, but I had to post. I have my XL-12's of course, an old stubborn but wonderfully effective FS-61E trimmer with the plastic blade string combo head, and two 1e40qmb based scooters... The scooters are single cylinder 40mm bore stock 49cc engines. Now one is 72cc 47mm bore and one is getting ready for a 50mm 84cc kit and crank. That both have Technigas Next-R expansion chambers and the 72cc Polini will run an honest 52mph gps verified. I have a PowersBee (Chrysler) go kart engine here too, that is getting ported and modified to be mounted on a GtaveDigger RC truck. Four wheel drive four wheel steer. Should run 70+mph but will likely never be near that speed. Gotta love an engine that weighs less than half as much as a four stroke of similar size, and can Rev nearly twice as fast.

...I have a PowerBee (Chrysler) go kart engine here too... I had a Chrysler Sno Runner with that engine. Had to sell it a couple years ago to help pay for daughter's college. :-( snorunner.com/p/history

Not a toy, but still a 2 stroke. My parents bought it in 1974 I believe, became my job cutting the grass when I was 12 or 13, (77-78). When I bought my house in 92 dad bought a new mower for himself and gave me this one, and I still use it today, only mower I have ever used. Still starts in a pull or two cold.
