I've always purchased ready to use chains. I would like to look into buying in bulk and making my own. I am going to start with my Stihl Mini Boss since I have less chains for it than I do my Homelite by a longshot. Can I get some recommendations for suppliers and types of chains? I realize the smaller gauge chains aren't going to throw out the chips like the Homelite does, but I'm curious if there is something a little more aggresive than what I'm using. I have included a pic with the data on the chains I'm using now. Attachments:

Those chains are safety chains. ( green label) To make your own you need a breaker and spinner. You can learn a lot about chains here loggerchain.com/main.sc

Thanks for the info on the chains and for the link. I ordered a new guide bar from them.Im looking forward to finding the most efficent chain type for my saw. I got the Stihl used and most of the chains came with it. If anyone has a suggestion for a specefic type I would appreciate it.

. If anyone has a suggestion for a specefic type I would appreciate it. That would depend on what you are cutting, semi chisel is a good all around chain.

undee70ss: Thanks for the info on a chain type. Most of what I cut is Poplar, Oak and Maple.

For what it's worth. I took the 3/8 low pro off my MS290, swapped the sprocket and put standard 3/8 on it, with a 20" bar. Every pro friend I've let use it ask what did I do to it, port, carb? Nothing but the chain swap, and I run nothing but the Stihl yellow chain.
