I feel like I've reached a new level in Homelite chainsaw collecting. Today I acquired a 995D. These big cube saws don't turn up very often in Iowa, hardly ever actually. The only thing I can see that's missing is the serial number tag. No biggie. It runs nice. I'm really pumped up about this one!

That looks like a real linebacker-level of chainsaw. Probably need a Pro Weight-Lifter, or WWE license to operate that one! What kind of displacement does that thing have? Amazing to me that someone like New York Jet Don Maynard did an ad for a measly little XL103. Should have gone for some bigger models! Hang on tight when that thing gets going!

Great saw. You planning on a restoration or just clean it up and run it? Either way, I've never had my hands on one of those but I just love them from the pictures and videos I've seen.

Nice score Ron! The 995D at 112 cc was the 2nd largest saw Homelite made (I believe). The biggest one was the 750 & another saw at 114cc.I can't think of the other one (maybe the 3100?).I'm really surprised that Homelite never got a saw any bigger than 114cc.

I think the 8-29 was actually the biggest cc Homelite. Seems like it was like 129cc. Big old heavy belt drive saw. Don't see those around here.

Those things are real eye poppers when they're all painted up. Great saw either way though.

If your carb is a Tillotson, should be a HL-119, there are 2 adjusting screws on left side of carb. Front one is idle air adj. / one toward back is hi speed air adj. When you at looking at carb from back, at top left is the idle adj. screw.

I feel like a rookie but I can't find the idle adjustment on this 995d. Any help is appreciated! But it says you're a "Master Saw Builder"!! How can ya build a saw without knowing where the HI and Low Speed needles are on the carb? Oh man, who's giving out those titles??? I want a promotion! Reminds me of the "Master Mechanic" that worked on my dually at the GM dealership......he forgot to tighten the nut on my harmonic balancer, and when I brought it back after the balancer fell off.......he tightened it. But rather than drop the lower half of the plastic radiator shroud to put the balancer back on........he simply took a hacksaw and cut the lower shroud off. Who needs to keep their radiator cool anyway.....at least the engine doesn't shake anymore. Then he lost the fine threaded wingnut for my air cleaner cover and replaced it with a course threaded nut he found in his toolbox and stripped the stud. You're not a Master Saw Builder like he was a Master Mechanic........are ya??? Gotta watch those titles.........Rookie! ;O) bob

No I am not a master saw builder/mechanic. As undee said, the titles are based on number of posts. My profession is auto body repair. I have learned enough mechanical skills over the years to be " dangerous". This 995 is the only old saw that I've owned that it's not obvious where the idle adjustment is. I've collected saws for 13-14 years and still feel like a rookie at times. I'm thankful for house of Homelite for help. Ron

Hi Ron,
Oh I'm laughing WITH you brother......have no fear. We've all been stumped by what later seem like simple things, so we're all right there with ya! I can't even count the number of times I felt like stumped for not figuring out the obvious.....which sometimes isn't obvious until you've seen it a time or two. It's one reason I like to work on stuff by myself......so no one sees that puzzled look I get on my face from time to time! This place is a great resource for us playing with these saws. I forget that my sarcasm sometimes is hard to see in messaging, so I apologize if you took it the wrong way. Just trying to lighten up the place a bit, but never at anyone's expense! Now I need to go find me one of those 995 monsters to play with!!!
;O) boob.......errr........bob
