Great video Leon! I almost had to put toothpicks under my eyelids to keep my eyes open after cutting wood myself today & having the wood heat going & late at night. I was a little surprised that Mac took 1st place,I thought Pioneer would take it for sure. One brand I would've liked to see in the contest was a Remington, but I know you couldn't put every saw brand in there..

Interesting results and more wide spread times than I would have imagined. Carburetor governing "tuning" could play a part in these results? Seems that "buzz-ball" function could really shut/slow some down more aggressively than others??? They function by essentially enrichening the fuel:air ratio too high??

Thanks for taking the time and going to all the effort for this competition/video. I'm sure it was a kinda fun too but a lot went into this production.
But next time, could you give that McC about another turn of fuel on the hi needle? After all the jokes that McC saws have been the butt of around our saw circles over the years, it pains me to no end that the 81 out cut the Homies!
Seriously, I have a 77cc 925 that I would dearly love to put up against that group. It's an absolute freak of nature, like something is wrong with it! Maybe you can do it again and I can finally make it way out west to visit. I love Oregon as long as I stay away from the coast. We went through Bend on vacation a few years ago and I told my wife I wanted to move!

Leon,
First, great video and thanks for making it!!! I'm sure it took a lot of effort and you could have easily found more fun things to do on your day off....so it's much appreciated. My takeaway from it was I'm now a fan of Poulan!!! And I want to get me one!! And that 925 sure is pretty! Too bad the tach couldn't read thru the cover of the Poulan, as it sounded like it was going to rev to the moon!! It was just INSANE! Makes you appreciate the genius of the 2-stroke design, where the piston always has a positive force pushing on the top of it......counteracting the crazy high inertial loads of that poor piston starting and stopping so many times per second, that would if left unchecked would rip it to pieces! Eat your heart out 4-strokes!!! Of course armchair quarterbacking a video like this would be easy, as well as pointless.....but the only think I didn't hear you mention, and maybe I missed it, was.......did you check compression on each of these saws, and were they making factory compression? I would think if not then comparing one to the other really wouldn't be fair, same bar and chain or not. And it was really nice to hear them......adds a lot to the comparison.
Again, great job and I especially liked the fact that you showed how hard some can be to start, unlike a lot of videos that have them all warmed up and ready to rock on the first pull. It was nice to see I'm not the only one who runs into some real bitches when it comes to starting these bears, although you refrained from cussing like a sailor and throwing bar adjusting wrenches all over the place, like someone I know. Great job!
;O) bob
Awesome job Leon........thanks much!!!!
