I recently got three xl-12 saws and it seems to of them have no spark when looking at the kill switch the wires were a mess,. Does the kill switch wire running to the switch just ground it out to kill the engine or should a secound wire be running back to the coil. They are the older blue saws

There should be one wire running from the switch to the coil.When you flip the switch to the off position it grounds the coil to the saw's frame.If you have no spark your points can be dirty & need cleaning,or the condenser is bad.Coils on these saws rarely go bad.
