The factory doesn't use it, why would you? valid point taken. i will add though, leon used a different cover bolt than factory original to get a better bite and thus more pressure tightening the cover on a HDC to help lessen a leak he was fixing after putting in a HDC repair kit. in another video he mentions he uses the tack spray on carbs that aren't holding pressue well even with new gasket kits. i guess sometimes things don't fit perfect at times and one can't find a new carb and thus has to add a little something extra to get it to work.

i'm sure there is a more efficient way of uploading a handful of images to one post versus the many i posted to get some images up. should be good enough to drill in and see the carb and assess if some gasket might help in this case. tia
Recommend truing up the carb. body surface using 600 grit and a flat plate or glass, and applying a sealer to the gasket.

A dry, new gasket might do well with a light wipe of oil if you have a problem.

As 5terrysupersaws recommended, we have done that when building racing engines for kart's. Used machinist bluing on head to see where low / high spots were. That way you don't take off too much material. I've done it with carburetor & other parts.
