In my constant effort to find blue XL's I don't yet have, I was able to find this XL-122 in England. I had but one photo to go off of, and relied on a friend in the UK to receive and then re-ship the saw to me. When it arrived, I was quite pleased that it was indeed a legitimate XL-122, which was a Terry built export model. I promptly popped the saw apart, replaced the fuel line & filter, cleaned the carb, replaced the muffler, added an NOS bumper spike and added fuel. She runs like a dream! From what I have learned looking through IPL's, this saw shared the case and top handle mounting setup with the 113 and 114. It also uses the Dyke's ring and 113/114 piston. However, since it is not a compression release saw, the cylinder in it is the same as was used in the XL-102. I had a heck of a time finding a proper muffler...these chrome XL-1XX series are eluding me, and when I do see them, they are often trashed. I purchased one off of ebay (black base, chrome cap), however, it has a different bolt hole spacing pattern, and didn't align with my cylinder holes. I ended up rewelding the broken tabs into a busted muffler I had in my junk pile, and it turned out pretty useful! This first photo is the only one I had to go from, prior to purchase.
Upon arrival in Michigan
Post cleanup and repair. She is not a beauty queen, but it is still in pretty good shape, and considering it's scarcity, I am preserving it as is.

By any chance do you know the part number for that lower handle bar bracket ?
I have an xl101 with what looks to be the same type of handle bar but mine is missing the bracket.

Thanks. There must be different versions of this part number. I tried one from a 130 but it doesn’t work due to the grip that comes on the later model saws. The old 101 handle flops around in it. I’ll try out the chainsawr one to see if it works better.

The 101 and 102 did not use the handle stop. That first showed up on the 102A. I am not sure if the 101 and 102 manual (especially the early glued tank 101’s) even have the tapped case/tank for the stop? Interestingly, the angle-handled version of the 103 also does not have the bracket…it has an XL12 style handle that does not pass underneath to the clutch side

My 101 is a bit of an anomaly from what I can tell. It appears that it was possibly updated or altered at some point. It looks like the stud side crankcase was changed to a later model that used the stop. Possibly it was a kit for upgrading a glued tank?
I’ll add some pictures in another post. I’ve derailed this one enough I think!

Handles on Homelites seemed to ALWAYS be an evolving and dynamic developmental test bed. The Canadian versions seemed to always be done differently than their US version. There must be a lot of delicate flower operators out there because they seemed to frequently bow to avoiding any vibration in the handles. Cool saw to see there Talentedmrgreen!

Check out Dealer Service Memo's 365 / 381 / 387 & 446, for the 101's to the 104's.

Nice saw. I have 4 / 5 blue Homelites. Mostly 101's. One is frankensaw, blue saw, but some put red handle case on it.

Here is the later style bracket I had on my 120AM, and I see Leon's 120AM has this as well...despite the IPL showing the same p/n as prior models. This bracket was drilled for the bolt you can see i this photo of Leon's. I did some peeking, and I don't see it on 76's, 123's, 130's etc, but perhaps there was a change in some of these models along the way that added this? Homelite XL-120AM (e) by Leon Crouch, on Flickr
