Hi Guys,
Ok, I get that the average intelligence of Americans isn't at the top of the chart......but it never ceases to amaze me how many stupid people there are out there. It's why I do my shopping late at night, a few minutes before the stores close......to reduce the number of idiots I have to deal with. They seem to be attracted to me like bees to honey. So I limit my exposure. Now I've bought probably thousands of things on eBay over the years to suit a variety of collector fetishes I've had, chainsaws being my latest. I guess I've purchased maybe 50 or 60 saws on eBay this past year. And sometimes sellers pack really poorly. Some don't pack at all, they throw the dirty oily saw in a box and hope for the best. Others pack the saw like it's made of eggs. So you never really know what to expect until you open her up.
Today I received a saw that was packed uniquely poorly. I saw the FedEx guy humping this big tall box down the walkway.......and I said to myself......WTF is THAT?? So I brought it into the house and opened the top of the box. And what greeted me inside.........a 26LCS sitting on it's rear handle, still wearing it's bar and chain. Why take the bar and chain off when you can simply rest the heavy saw on it's cast aluminum rear handle......with no padding under or around it, just in case someone sets the box down hard......which we know NEVER happens. So I cringed as I lifted it out of the box.........and of course the rear handle was a crumpled mess of broken cast aluminum. Go figure! The important thing is the seller saved 5 minutes by not removing the bar and chain and packing it even semi-properly.
It would cost me more to ship it back than it's worth, and I'd have to deal with Mr. Idiot Seller again........so I'll eat it and look for another handle in my travels. But I think I'll remember this packing job till the end. I used to say I wonder what people are thinking when they do stupid things. Now I've decided I really don't want to know. Nope.....just don't want to know. And the worst part is I KNOW some other eBay seller knucklehead will top this packing job in the near future. But I just can't imagine how. Here's hoping your next large package doesn't come from the same guy!! We've all got nightmare shipping stories........if you can top mine I'd love to hear it. If not......I guess I win. Wooo-Hooo!
;O)
