Hi Guys,
And of course it's the page I need to see. So any chance anyone has an IPL for the Homelite 663 chainsaw? Leon's is missing page 5, which has on it Figure 4 titled "Engine Assembly", which shows the crank, piston, rod, cylinder and clutch side main bearing. Turns out the 663 is a cluge of parts from the Zip, 600D, 7-19 and 6-22, maybe others, and I don't want to guess at parts that I think are correct, as that can get expensive. I have that IPL the way, but it'll be a week or so before it gets here and I'd like to do some research.
thanks, bob

I must be missing something, I see 4 and 5 plus the parts listing. It does look like Homelite cleaned out the cupboard when they put this saw together.

Hi still,
Really? I only see Fig 1, Fig 2, Fig 3, then the carb exploded view and then Fig 5......no Figure 4. Mine goes from Page 4 to Page 6, then 7, 8 and 9. No page 5. You see a piston and its PN? I just checked again.......still not seeing any sign of Page 5.

There are two 663 IPL's listed, have a look at the one right after the 6-22 IPL.
It has the Page 5 with the Figure 4 Engine assembly... Piston # A-57070
All the ones I've seen were built in 1963 ... 663

Wow...........now I get it. There ARE two! Didn't see the first one because it's not in the right place numerically. And yes, THAT IPL, titled as 6-63 once opened, for which there is no such beast, does indeed have the missing Page 5! So for anyone else looking for the 663 IPL, use the one between 6-22 and 7-19 and not the one between 650 and 700D. Thought I was going nuts there. Thanks for the help!!

The IPL that I was looking at is the 8th diagram listed. A-57070 is shown as piston and wrist pin, includes the rings.

Hi still, Yeah, you must be looking at the 6-63 IPL, which is really the 663 IPL. The 663 is a really weird saw. It's a total hodge-podge of parts. I'm putting together a large cross reference of the main parts for all the large frame saws, and so far the 663 has a unique cylinder and crank. I haven't been thru all the other saw parts lists, but so far it is one weird animal. For example, the cylinder is from a 700D/G, but one corner of the cooling fins is notched in a concave half circle....for no obvious reason. Installed it makes no difference, but the cylinder has a -1 following the PN, indicating a revision. But why? Strange....very strange. And why make a whole new crank just for this one saw. Looks like they needed a unique displacement....for who knows why. Interesting beast of a saw, and I like puzzles. Well, maybe I stand corrected on that cylinder thing.....I just looked a bunch of 700D's which also have that -1 cylinder, and they do NOT have the corner fins cut out.....only my saw does. Then I watched a few videos of 770D's in action, as well as looked at an eBay 663, and it appears only mine has the concave corner fins. Not sure what's up with that. Seems the really strange ones always follow me home. When I pull it down I'll check that cylinder casting number. You can see the difference in the cylinder fin corners below. 700D is on the right. Heck, now that I look at it closer even the head (which is integral to the cylinder) has a notch in it above those fin cut-outs. Maybe it's an owner mod for some reason. But still haven't found another saw that uses the 663 crank. As usual, the saga continues. ;o) bob
