When I go to turn off my 350 Super XL it shocks me when I hit the toggle switch. Does it just need a new toggle switch?

Probably just need to work on the switch ground. Is the switch tight in the case?

Was the 350XL a pretty good saw back in it's day?

I don't know every Homelite model but 350XL isn't ringing any bells for me. I know of 350's and Super XL's but those are 2 completely different animals. Both were good saws though.

You are right, I guess I had a brain f@#t, it is indeed a Super XL Automatic. I took the side cover off and it had a Mud Dauber nest completely covering the inside part the switch and it had a pretty good build up of oily saw dust around it. I cleaned all that off, checked connections and will test it when I get some more fuel.

Steve, most likely the switch is either loose,or the paint on the saw is preventing the swith from grounding properly.Take the switch out & try scraping the saws's starter cover to make sure there's no paint on the surface. You can do this on the inside.I don't remember seeing any paint on the inside of any rercoil covers on saws I have.If it continues to shock you with a good ground,a new switch might be in order. Those switches that Homelite used were known to go bad quite often.

Hi Steve,
Sucks getting shocked, don't it? One of my leaf blowers used to do the same thing to me. I'd always forget, blow leaves for an hour and then go turn it off and get zapped. Sure wakes the crap out of you! Eventually I got tired of trying to hit the switch fast enough not to get stung, but old electricity travels a bit faster than I do, and I had to eventually break down and fix it. Loose connection was all it was. But I still think twice before I shut that blower off now.
