First time posting but have done a lot of great research here. I am doing a mechanical restoration on one of my late father's old saws to keep. He was a timber cutter in the early 60s and had several 700 series saws and also had a kart with twin homelites. When tearing this saw down which had a 700d tag,775 handlebar and carburetor, I wasn't sure what I had till checking the rotating assembly and it is the larger stroke 707,770,775. He apparently used some of the kart tricks such as the piston is ported and he for some reason used the 700d crankcase which has to be clearanced for the larger 1.54 stroke. I have researched and saw homelite recommended this to get more power from the k82/92 kart engines. He has the crankcases from 707,770,775 also. I thinks it's kinda cool to have and old hot Rodded saw My question is are there any advantages to the slightly smaller crancase on the 700, kinda like stuffed box? Which saw has more value and which tag should it have? Also does anybody have a copy of the homelite publication: how to make your homelite kart engine hotter that they could post? I doubt anybody knows for sure but on the 700d ( I know the cylinder is different) is the block deck height the same and just the cylinder different?

Not sure if this will help or not. If you go to oldminibikes.com, Click on go carts go to the Homelite engine id. Person on there has a Facebook page. There is more information on vintagekartforum. Search online for it. It references the 770 And other chainsaw parts, to the Homelite kart engine. This is same person who is on Facebook. Some posts are 4/5 years old, but still might be of help, locating the publication you are looking for. Good luck.

I have got a lot of good information from that site and Sam's build pics. I have not asked on that site, not sure on the chainsaw crankcase if they would know the specifics even though alot of the other parts are the same. I did have a couple of the kart crankcases that I either sold or scrapped- dont remember but would be nice to compare. Maybe I will give them an ask.

I have done that many times and got great results, by asking. Sorry couldn't be of more help. When we had kart shop / small engine repair, we mostly ran Mac or Briggs engines. Best of luck on your search.
