FYI, Look out.... Prices for this stuff has skyrocketed in the past couple days in my area including Amazon.com. Just last week I bought a can for $12.75 at my local Auto parts store. Today I was in the same store for something else and I noticed the price is now $17.75. Up $5 bucks per can! I called around and all the local auto stores are up about the same $17 - $18.
In other words, if you need it and the price is still in the $12 - $13 range in your area, you may want to stock up.

Hi Charlie,
Sorry for sounding like a dumbass......but which Homelite red does this color match? The earlier red on the 50's saws or the darker red on the 60's saws.......or something else?
The price of everything is nuts these days. I was pricing Brake Cleaner the other day. I bought like 30 cans of it at Walmart a few years back when it was a buck and change for a can. They rarely have any because all the local mechanics grab it up as soon as they put it on the shelf, as the CRC and other name brands were like $4 a can. Well, I'm about half out, so I figured if I run across some I'll resupply. They've been out of it since COVID, but the other week I was in there and they had about 10 cans on the shelf.....and all the CRC and other brands were all gone. I thought that was funny......until I looked at the price of the Walmart Brake Cleaner. It was $12 a can!!! The CRC and others were $7 a can. I was like WTF??? Came back a week later and the price dropped to $8 a can. Still way to rich for me. I've got gallons of old gas that will do the same thing.....but prices are just completely nuts on everything. With inflation about to take off........and our Gov't spending us into oblivion, our country going bankrupt is right around the corner. Then the shit's really gonna hit the fan when it take $50 to buy a loaf of bread. Hang tight crowd.......it's gonna be a rough next few years. Buy your Brake Cleaner whenever you see it on sale, cuz prices for everything aren't going down anymore!!!
;O)

W30Bob,
In answer to your queston, this color ( i.e., Victory Red) is not an exact match for any Homelite color. It is an in-between red/orange (i.e., between the 70's and 80's Homelite reds). It is the color that Leon ( Leon's chainsaws) shows on his web-page under restorations for those that are not trying to be 100% restoration perfect just a good match for a daily work saw in need of a little TLC. I used it because a direct Homelite color match from a custom color shop was about 50% more at the time. Now, depending on how much the custom shop has gone up it might be cheaper going with the exact color match option... ha!

Wow. I had a custom metallic matched in Alkyd Acrylic for my 921 last week, and it is 8.96/can. That was a complete analysis, mix/match/review and then purchase by VanSickle out in Nebraska. A quart is $32.

I work at an auto body repair shop. You don't want to know what automotive acrylic urethane products cost... Yikes

Hi Guys, I've used VanSickle paints and loved them. Unfortunately, can't find them around here in Maryland. But good stuff. Ron, I can only imagine. Automotive paints have always been pricey, as long as I can remember.....but I'm sure the cost today would shock a few people!!
Charlie, Thanks for the info on the paint color. Good to know and if I see any in my travels for cheap I'll grab it. Even if I don't find a use for it I can pass it off to you guys for a possible savings, if the prices keep rising.
regards, bob

Hey Guys,
I just got off the phone with Troy?? (customer service) at VanSickle in Nebraska. I asked about Homelite saw colors and he said they recently filled an order for the Homelite light blue (metallic, enamel, custom color) and that they would like to increase their Homelite library of colors ( i.e. future sales). I asked about custom color matching and he said it costs $25 (i.e., one time fee) and they would need a sample. The person that ordered the custom blue sent in the saw's drive/bar cover for them to scan. He said it worked out very well ( i.e. customer very happy) and that they now have that color in their catalog/library of colors. The good news... once it is in their library of colors it is available for other to purchase without the custom color fee. Currently, the price for that metallic blue is $11.09/can, six can minimum order + shipping. That is a 16 oz. can filled with 12oz paint + propellant. However, he said they are expecting a price increase around May 1st due to the cost of the can and materials going up in general.
ah...inflation.
Hope this information is helpful.
Charlie

I mostly just enjoy getting them to run and look decent - from a little ways off- you know what i mean? I’ve never been a good collector of anything, give me anything in perfect ,original condition from 1000 years ago ,I have to make it work then use it ! Victory red sounds good ,my XL housing was cracked all the way from the blade side to the starter side ,some epoxy and fiber glas tape and it’s fixed. Now victory red.
