Hi Guys,
So I was checking out ePay the other day and a guy lists an NOS plastic Homey chainsaw case still in the box. As a collector of many different things I really like finding original boxes/packaging/etc. I just like to see the style of artwork at that time in history, I guess. I was probably the first person to see it listed, so I bought it......more for the outer box than the case. I paid and then immediately sent the seller a message saying not to put a shipping label and tape on the box, as that would ruin it. So he plastic wrapped it real good and stuck a label on the wrap. It came today and is pretty cool. Makes me wonder how many such boxes are still in existence, not that it matters.
But then I got thinking..........when you bought a new chainsaw from a dealer, say a Super Wiz 55 or a Zip or Buzz........did it come packaged in any way.......or did they just 'dealer-prep' the saw and hand it to you with an owner's manual and a receipt? Did the old Homey's come in a box....or crate? How were they shipped to the dealer......did they come in a shipping box that was to be discarded by the dealer......or were you given a saw in a box like you get today? Would love to see that old packaging if there was any. If anyone knows how they did it back in the day, please share!
thanks, bob

I'm sort of digging the matching blue metal box of the C-51! Wow. So how about the really old saws....26LCS, 5-30...did these come in boxes too? Or maybe crates or metal boxes? Anybody have any packaging from the earliest of Homelite chainsaw days? I remember as a kid my Dad bought a new Wiz 55....not sure if it was a Super or not.......but when he got it at the Homelite dealer it was already out of any packaging it came in, had been assembled, run and fully tuned by the dealer. So I never saw any packaging for that. I do remember that dealer having all the saws laid out on the showroom floor the same way, no boxes or packaging........all assembled and gone thru and ready to be purchased and used. I'm thinking that had to be 1969 or 1970.
thanks, bob
