On this Super2 SL someone has cut a piece of the clutch cover away. Odd I thought, but now I have seen picture of similar activity. What kind of reason is it for this? I have no other housing then this, so for me the only option is to make it look better then it is now.
By make a smooth cut like this? Can't find of any other options.

Generally the only reason clutch covers are cut are for a bow bar, but there are no bows available for that model. Maybe it broke

Maybe it was cut to make it easier to remove and install the chain? You might want to look for a parts saw with a good case if you want it right.

Maybe it's for access to change the sprocket. Although I believe you would still have to remove the starter housing and engine mount screws and slide the engine over a bit to get the sprocket off. The sprocket might come off without all that fuss though, I'd never encountered a saw with a chunk of the side missing to try it.

Well it’s metal, can’t it be welded? Magnesium is a different animal to weld. I think there are people who can do it but you'll have to search for that person.

Knowing somewhat of metals and welding and a little of magnesium, after I posted I researched and yeah it is done but finding a welder that does it may be problematical but you never know unless you ask your local welders.I did find it a interesting search.I would research further before cutting more out.
