Hi guys, I've taken a liking to the 26LCS and am trying to learn the details. This one is on ePay now.........it was listed last week and no one bit. It's in very nice shape.......but maybe too nice. Weird thing is it has no decals......which leads me to think it may have been restored at some point when decals weren't available. But what I find neat is it has the big MONGO spike that was optional on the 5-30. I was wondering if that spike would also fit a 26LC, as the drive cases are different PNs.........but I guess it does. What I don't understand is what the additional red plate is under the saw. You can see it in the pic where it attaches to the bottom of the handlebar under the sprocket. I've not seen that plate on other 26's, and don't see it in the IPLs. Was it a late add-on or something to deflect wood chips?? thanks, bob

It looks like the sawdust shield from a 5-30 series installed 90 degrees off axis. On the 26LCS the intake manifold is in that location, but with the 5-30 there is no swiveling the manifold so there is a big gap and that gap was covered with a sawdust shield. I think this saw was put together from a pile of parts not totally original to a 26LCS and not in the correct order. Check out Homelite part number 73048.

Hi MP, Sure could be, you'd know better than me. It's definitely a Frankensaw, that's for sure. I've dealt with the seller on a number of occasions, and never had any issues with him or his parts.......so not sure what's going on. I'd think from all the chainsaw stuff he sells he'd know a legit 26LCS when he saw one......but who knows? Definitely has the wrong carb as well, as it's a diaphragm and not a float. Here's another angle of that weird chip guard. regards, bob

What ever it is its not stock, also red spray paint on the sprocket suggests it was something custom made and not a Homelite part installed incorectly.
