I've got a couple SEZ oil pump that have worn out gears.Apparently the P.O.s didn't believe in cleaning their saws as a part of regular maintenance & the crud built up in & around the oil pump gear preventing it from turning,& presto,a worn gear.My question is if I put a new gear in the pump will it work again,or am I rolling the dice on this?If I remember correctly the crank was still good.

I'd switch out the entire pump whether you decide to go with new or used. I don't think the gear/pump shaft is meant to be changed out. It's not a service part. I'm not saying you couldn't change it out with a used one and make it work, I'm just saying if you have a used pump just bolt on the whole thing rather than mixing and matching parts.

Brent,if it's not a serviceable part, then why is it listed in the IPL as a separate part? (65047A)

I think he was referring to the plunger shaft in the pump itself...usually when a worm gear goes kaput, the plunger gear is in similarly crummy shape.

Yeah, Leon's got it, I was referring to the plunger shaft/gear. If you're getting a pump from a donor saw, I'd keep the complete pump and worm all together unless you elect to use a new worm gear. Or maybe you're just going to get it all new?

I don't know what the current prices are for a used or new pump, but I picked up a used pump in good shape for $10 & a new one for $28.Both of them I got on Feebay.

Sounds fair. Maybe not necessarily cheap, but fair.

After I just bought 2 oil pumps for the SEZ,I was rummaging through some parts in the garage & found 6 oil pumps! What a kick in the keister.$ of the pumps are for the later saws with the barb on it for the oil line to attach to.One of those 4 has a missing barb. The other 2 pumps are from what I believe to be the early SEZ or EZ.They were quite dirty & after I cleaned them up I found the internal gears to all be good.I do have 4 or 5 worm gears for the pumps,so I guess it's time to go through my ezs & SEZs to see which ones have working oil pumps.

I knew I had oil pumps, but I thought they were all bad with stripped gears & such.
