Was has anyone done when the cork no longer seals the plug. Buy one off ebay at an inflated price or make one? hhh

An appropriate sized standard rubber o-ring works very well. I believe that Homelite actually used these on some applications.

Thanks. I have tried an "O" ring to no avail. Maybe I used the wrong size. I have an assortment. However I probably have several but not the one that will work.

Wouldn't be hard to cut a new gasket. I bet you could even use the regular fiber type gasket sheet like Karropak if you don't have cork. That cap is fairly rigid, I bet it would seal up fine. It would be worth a shot anyway and cost virtually nothing but a little time.
